Hurley Confession
[31]
Sergeant Bill Murphy was instrumental in saving the stone pediment that was over the door of the old police station. For many years it had a place of honor on the lawn between the police station and the courthouse. Then it was moved to its current place of honor in the triangle formed by the intersection of Washington Street and Harvard Street that is formally called Harvard Square or Francis Hickey Square.

Officers Robert Smith and Sean O'Brien (great nephew of Joseph O'Brien and son of a Brookline firefighter) were instrumental in getting the bronze plaques to honor the two fallen officers installed in the lobby of the Public Safety Building.
