[29] He accepted his fate, begged forgiveness, asked for ice cream as his last meal, and was electrocuted in Charlestown State Prison (now the site of Bunker Hill Community College).
Officer O'Brien's funeral was huge. The solemn procession from the wake at 104 Franklin went down Cypress, down School Street, right on Harvard Street, and up to St. Mary's. The church was filled. The overflow crowded into the school auditorium. He was buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery in West Roxbury.
I tell these stories to make sure the names of these two brave officers are not forgotten.
