Widening of Beacon St. at Coolidge Corner, circa 1888
Looking east from Coolidge Corner, circa 1888. The Coolidge & Brother store is on the left. On the right side of Beacon St., from left to right, are:
  • House of Charles Stearns
  • Intersection with Harvard St.
  • Probably the rear of the Webster Street house of Helen Coolidge. The houses of Andrew Harrington and Glidden Joy on the south side of Beacon St. have been removed for the widening while the north side of Beacon St. in this section has remained unchanged. The lack of an opening in the fence supports the argument that this is the rear of the Coolidge house.
