We are posting images from our 200+ collection of turn-of-the-century glass lantern slides. Many were taken by the well known photographer: John H. Thurston, Stereopticons, 50 Bromfield Street, Boston MA. View the collection.

Lantern slides are the subject of widespread interest by historians and collectors. Due to their heavy weight, the boxes of them are jokingly referred to as "door stops". Hand tinted ones are particularly in demand. For more information on lantern slides see:
